How the Right Fit can Seal the Deal
— What would you say is the most important part of your daily life?
Go ahead. I’ll wait (Just imagine me here with you while you answer.)

Ahhh… I love all of those responses.
But what if I told you… “I call bullshit on that answer.” (Inside the mind of FLJ as You gasp and look at me like, “Who is this woman?!”)
Stay with me here.
I’m certain your answers are valid. I’ve sat right where you are — year after year — trying to decipher the formula. Trying to tap into my secret sauce. Trying to figure out what separated feeling capable… from feeling unstoppable.
But let me step back.
The other night, while nursing a cold and deep into another competitive round of online solitaire, an ad popped up - Amazon Capsule Wardrobe. Again.
I’ve always been fascinated by those Amazon apps. The promise of simplicity. Of cohesion. Of “we did the thinking for you.”
But I stopped myself. Truth is I'm not the standard body type.
Weighing in at 185 pounds and still standing a statuesque 6’1”, at 61, I knew I’d download the app, pay the fee, and wind up disappointed. Because most of these systems are built for the standard frame.
And I've never been standard.
Then — on that same night — my daughter texts me the coolest thing. A San Diego event celebrating the Tallest Female Queen in the region. I scroll through the lineup. Suddenly I feel… short. Which begged my next question: How did these women find clothes that truly fit?
OMG!!! Enter the AI rabbit hole.
But here’s the deeper truth.
I love fashion.
Not for trend.
Not for power.
For PERFORMANCE!
I know just what the right outfit does to my energy. And that got me thinking.
How many of us swing for the fences and miss? How many of us still have the shirt, skirt, jacket, or pants hanging in the closet with the tags on them?
Because a salesperson said it was flattering.
Because a friend said it was “in.”
Because a trend told us it was on point.
In this body — at my age — I feel I have perfected my style.
A fit that allows me to walk into Trader Joe’s, the girls dance recital, a lunch meeting, or a presentation not just looking good but feeling . . . unstoppable.
Here’s what I know:
None of us is one-size-fits-all.
Not in clothing - Not in ‘calling' - Not in leadership.
Which brings me to the word outfit (or today's term "fit")
Outfit or Our Fit. . .
We think it means clothes worn together. But to outfit someone means to equip them. To prepare them. To provide what is needed for a specific purpose.
And even sometimes, an outfit is a unit — a group moving toward something bigger.
That’s when I realized something powerful:
Outfit = Our Fit.
Not just how the fabric lays on your body — but how it aligns with who you are.
What you choose. Why you choose it. How it shifts your thinking. How it has the ability to shape your body language.
From perceived identity… to desired identity… to the woman you feel in your bones wearing that 'fit' YOU feel unstoppable in!
Because when the fit is right?
You are free.
Free to connect. Free to lead. Free to make that deal.
Before I ever head into a brand meeting, negotiate a contract, or speak to a room…
I close my first deal of the day with me.
It doesn’t happen with hoopla. It happens quietly.
Coffee in hand. Sunshine (if I’m lucky). Answered emails, scheduled calls, setting the emotional temperature for the day ahead.
It’s in that moment I ask:
How am I showing up today?
More importantly—From where am I leading?
For me I’ve learned, when I am unclear, I overcompensate.
When I am clear, I don’t have to.
And clarity often starts with something deceptively simple.
FIT.
When the waist feels right, when the inseam lands, when the shoulder isn't pulling and not too tight — something shifts. Not in my ego. In my nervous system. I stop fidgeting. I stop shrinking. I start leading.
That friends is the first deal.
The deal that says:
I am aligned. I am prepared. I am clear.
Perhaps that’s why the capsule idea caught my attention.
Who doesn’t want simplicity? Who doesn’t want cohesion? Who doesn’t want someone to say, “We did the thinking for you”?
But curiosity quickly turned into something deeper.
Hope.
Not because I thought I’d finally find the perfect pant. (but I did!)
But because I wondered: What if there was a way to rediscover fashion as purpose-built?
Not for ego. Not for power. Not for trend.
But for clarity.
What if technology wasn’t trying to sell me something . . . What if it was trying to help me uncover what already worked?
That's the difference.
There’s a massive gap between:
“Here’s what’s in style.”
And
“Here’s what fits you.”
One is external pressure. The other is internal alignment.
And when I began exploring capsule systems and AI tools through that lens — not as shopping shortcuts, but as reflection tools — something changed.
It stopped being about clothes. It became about intention.
About building a wardrobe that supported the everyday, from Target runs to Brand Meetings. And everything in between!
When fashion is purpose-built, it stops being skin-deep. It becomes infrastructure.
Not to impress, but to support.
That’s when I realized: The Million Dollar Outfit isn’t about price.
It’s about preparation.
What surprised me most wasn’t the capsule technology.
It was the conversation. The questions.
The kind of questions that don’t tell you what to wear. . . but ask you who you are.
What silhouette honors your body?
What shoe anchors you?
What do you adjust when you enter a room?
Why do you choose mirrored lenses? (If you know you know!)
At first, it felt like we were talking about clothes.
But we weren’t.
We were talking about identity.
About boundaries.
About energy exchange.
About leadership.
Through question after question, I realized something powerful:
Fashion had never been about the latest style for me.
It had always been about alignment. The touch. The literal feel of the fabric against my skin. The extension of who I am at my core.
And when someone, something mirrors your thoughts back to you clearly…
You rediscover your fit.
What surprised me most wasn’t the technology.
It was the revelation.
The questions — simple, precise, perfectly timed — weren’t telling me what to wear.
They were revealing what I already loved.
How I feel when I zip up my race suit and slide on my helmet.
How my posture shifts when I slip on my running shoes.
How intentional I become when I dress for a sponsorship lunch, mirrored Ray-Bans in place.
It was never about clothes. It was about ownership. Through each question — asked in response to my last answer — something surfaced.
It wasn't confidence. It was Clarity.
I began see why I choose what I choose with ease.
Why certain silhouettes anchor me.
Why fit regulates my energy.
Why structure frees me.
Revelation created ownership.
And ownership created intention.
When you understand why you show up the way you do, you stop performing.
You start leading. You invite exposure.
Revelation isn’t abstract. It’s physical.
I paused before answering because I wanted to share my truest self. When something landed, I noticed my posture straightening. When something clicked, I felt myself breathe it in. I laughed at some of the questions because they felt so precise it was almost unfair.
I guess that's when I knew we weren’t talking about clothes anymore.
We were talking about alignment. We were talking about the idea of 'fit' in all it's iterations.
Here’s something else I’ve learned:
When something truly fits — not just on your body, but in your identity — your nervous system knows. And that shift changes everything.
Most of us might think confidence is the goal.
It’s not really.
Clarity is.
Confidence can be loud.
But clarity? That's certain.
When the fit is right, there's nothing to prove.
You feel regulated, grounded and present.
And guess what? That's what seals the deal.
Leadership? It's not about commanding a room.
It’s about exposure. Exposure in the revealing sense. The kind that brings what’s hidden into clarity. The kind that helps someone see themselves more honestly. That’s why fit matters. Because when you are clear — things align! There's no need to over compensate.
And when you stop overcompensating, you create space —
Space for others to settle. Space for truth to surface. Space for better decisions.
That’s what leaders do. They guide people toward exposure. Toward seeing what’s really there. Toward alignment. And it starts long before any outing, any meeting. It starts in the mirror.
I don’t believe fashion changes who we are.
I believe it has the ability to expose us.
I believe that the right fit doesn’t create confidence — it reveals clarity.
Clarity is what allows us to lead.
And by guiding others toward clarity — they begin to see themselves more honestly, more aligned, and more capable than they realized.
We’ve been taught that if it fits, we should keep it.
If the tags still on it. Keep it.
If the job works. Keep it.
If the relationship functions. Keep it.
If the role is respectable. Keep it.
But “fits” and “right fit” aren’t the same thing.
The right fit doesn’t just accommodate who you are.
It supports who you’re becoming.
And if it doesn’t expand you…it’s probably containing you.
There’s more than one way to show up for yourself.
Just make sure you pick the right fit.
Because somewhere in that choice…
